Me
I'm Rev. Dave Dean, a programmer for Simutronics Corporation, at the Missouri office. I'm 30, single and rent a house in a St. Louis suburb with roomates Steph and Jeff, a couple of cats and a bearded dragon.
Faith
I have made a lifelong commitment to Kemetic Orthodoxy within the House of Netjer. I am known there as Imakhu (Reverend) Seshagemseger ("wisdom is found in silence") Ankhkaseshat ("causing Seshat's ka to live"), Imakhu Sesha for short. I am a Hem-Seshat priest (servant of Seshat) and Sesh-ka Nisut (assistant scribe to the Nisut AUS).
Career
In the massively multiplayer online roleplaying game DragonRealms, I was known as GM Shalnhh (pronounced "shawln-uh"). I was the magic system guru for about 3 years, and also built (among other things) the NPC empath system, Riverhaven Thieves' Guild and under-wharf area, the Zaulfung swamp and Urrem'tier shrine quest, the fishy part of the Eluned shrine quest, the Vykathi hive, Chyolvea Tayeu'a (with Atrathien), four new races (with Rowan) and 17 creatures. I also put my stamp on (or rewrote) the Crossing Thieves' Guild, Gauthus, the banking system, the Carousel system, Mibgluc from the Volcano Quest, Gamgweth (and to a much lesser extent the other languages) and several other things. I built about a third of the single-player missions in the retail version of Simutronics' CyberStrike 2, and composed and recorded the music tracks "Ready" and "Syren's Fate." I assisted with the 2000-2001 redesign and construction of play.net, have trained somewhat in 3D graphics programming and am currently working on back-end support for Hero's Journey.
Education
I was a Programming major at Manatee Community College in Bradenton, FL. I was three credit hours from actually getting an A.S. -- I didn't take assembly language -- when I transferred to the University of South Florida and earned my B.S. in Information Systems Management. Due to a goof that I am still a little resentful about, they first told me I needed one more class, then the day after I took the midterm in that class, my diploma arrived in the mail, dated from the previous semester, and they said it was all a mistake. Needless to say I never showed up for that class again :P
Hobbies
My hobbies include games, reading, web authoring, and especially music. I spent several years in school and with the Florida West Coast Symphony Youth Orchestra playing the violin and learning music theory, then faked my way through keyboards in the high school jazz band and briefly in a rock band which wasn't very good. I got more and more into synthesis and composition and less into performance, though I do own a variety of instruments that I can play by ear... with enthusiasm if not with skill. I am decent with percussion though. :)
